Our Pet Sitting Agreement - Translated

Common Situations In International Pet Sitting
Over time, we’ve learned that a few situations tend to pop up when caring for pets and homes — and it’s always best to be prepared. We use these experiences to help shape our agreements and set clear expectations, so there are no surprises for you, for us, or for your pets. Here are a few of those experiences:
- Utilities turned off / bills unpaid
- Internet or other amenities not actually active
- Emergency veterinary expenses & unclear authorization
- No clear receipts / reimbursement method
- Keys, access & lockouts
- Home condition disputes on return
- Vague scope of responsibilities
- Transportation / vehicle use misunderstandings
- Access to funds
- Security & liability (insurance gaps)
- Medication / medical administration errors due to unclear instructions
- Unclear cancellation or replacement sitter rules
How we set good expectations and preventative measures:
A smooth, worry-free sit starts long before we arrive. Clear agreements and a few preventative steps help ensure your pets are happy, your home is secure, and everyone feels confident from start to finish.
- Amenity Confirmation: Before we begin, owner confirms that internet, alarm, heating/cooling, and agreed appliances are in good working order. A quick screenshot or short, timestamped video is perfect.
- Home Condition Inventory: Owner shares dated photos or a video walk-through of key rooms, including any pre-existing damage. Upon arrival, sitter does a brief timestamped check-in to confirm condition.
- Pet Medical Authorization: A clear veterinary release form plus a pre-authorized spending limit allows us to act quickly for your pet’s health. For anything above that limit, we’ll contact you first, and if you can’t be reached, we’ll use best judgment in line with your pet’s needs.
- Pre-Authorized Expenses: For items like pet supplies, home essentials, or urgent repairs, your payment authorization form allows us to handle purchases promptly without delay.
- Keys & Access: Main and backup keys, entry codes, and a locksmith contact are provided before the sit, along with clear instructions for their return.
- Vehicle Use (if applicable): Written permission, proof of insurance, and any usage guidelines are confirmed in advance.
- Insurance: Agreement confirms the owner’s home and contents policy.
- Communication Plan: We set your preferred check-in frequency, identify a backup contact, and outline how emergencies are handled if you can’t be reached.
- Quarantine / Customs: Owner is responsible for all permits, fees, and documentation related to pet import/export and quarantine.
- Dispute Resolution: We establish in advance how any disputes will be handled, including the governing law or mediation process — especially important for international arrangements.
- Termination & Early Leave: Agreement includes terms for early departure, emergency travel, and replacement sitter procedures to ensure pets are never left without care.
We’ve found these simple steps create the space for what matters most — giving your pets loving, attentive care while you’re away, and giving you the comfort of knowing everything back home is in good hands.
